BG Independent News: BG Save Our Neighborhoods Group receives capacity-building grant

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — September 30, 2026— BG Save Our Neighborhoods Group, an organization dedicated to fostering a vibrant community, preserving historic neighborhoods, and developing financially accessible housing has been awarded a capacity-building grant from the John Henry Eldred Jr. Foundation.

BG SONG, founded in 2023, has mobilized its 100% volunteer base to advance neighborhood improvements in Bowling Green, successfully executing large-scale initiatives to tackle projects from senior and veteran home repair to renters’ rights workshops to community town halls.

This round of grants from the Toledo-based foundation is designed to bolster organizations’ capacity. The funding will support BG SONG as it works to establish a community land trust in the Bowling Green area.

Community land trusts are nonprofit organizations that acquire and hold land to serve local communities, ensuring financially accessible housing opportunities in perpetuity.
