Building Literacy and Future-Ready Students Through Community Collaboration
Since 1994, Partners in Education (PIE) has been dedicated to empowering students with the skills they need to read, succeed, and thrive. Founded by the Toledo Rotary, PIE partners with schools and local organizations to deliver evidence-based programs that support literacy, college and career readiness, and community engagement. Guided by the belief that “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,” PIE brings together teachers, volunteers, and community partners to ensure students and schools in Toledo receive the support they need.
Building Stability Through Holistic Housing Solutions
For 35 years, Hope House has been a cornerstone of Hancock County’s response to homelessness. What began as a transitional shelter in an old convent—founded after Sister Karen Elliott noticed women gathering on a church lawn—has grown into a multi-faceted organization providing housing solutions, support, and education for individuals and families in need.
Rooted in Community: Investing in Rural Libraries Across America
Inspired by a commitment to invest in initiatives that strengthen families and the communities in which they live, work, and play, the John Henry Eldred Jr. Foundation has been honored to provide significant financial support to small, public libraries in low-income, rural communities across the United States. These grants have been instrumental in enabling libraries to enhance children’s collections, expand digital resources, aid in capital expenditures, and provide vital community programs.
Empowering Young Lives Through the Arts
Since its founding in 1892, Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo has been a beacon of hope and opportunity for young people. Inspired by John Gunckel’s vision to create a safe, supportive environment for children, the organization remains steadfast in its mission: to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
