About the Rural Public Library Fund

The fund was established with the launch of the Dorothy Louise Kyler Foundation, the original name of the John Henry Eldred Jr. Foundation. The purpose of the fund is to help grow children's circulation and sustain programming in low-income, rural libraries across the United States.

Since our inception in 2012, we've had the privilege of making substantial contributions to libraries in 29 states, totaling $1,759,100. These funds include the most recent grant cycle in 2024.

Our Reach

Our impact on libraries extends beyond Ohio, reaching rural libraries in states such as:

  • Michigan
  • Maine
  • Pennsylvania
  • Indiana
  • West Virginia
  • Virginia
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Georgia
  • Florida
  • And Others!
